Two murder accused are set to apply to be released on bail on the 27 January’ in the Ga- Rankuwa magistrate court in the North West while the family is leaving in fear after the gruesome murder of their daughter Lesego Masina.
Paulos Masina (not the biological father) who is the alleged mastermind and Maisela Freddy Kekana who is the lleged gunman appeared before the Ga-Rankuwa Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.
It was confirmed in court that the accused intend to apply for bail.
Now the family of Lesego fears for its safety as the accused in her murder prepare to apply for bail, a move that has sparked anger, anxiety and renewed calls for justice from the community.
The family stated that it is strongly opposed to any bail being granted, citing serious safety concerns and saying they fear for their lives should the accused be released on bail.
Two other suspects linked to the case remain at large.
Ofentse Masina, Lesego’s younger sister, thanked the community for standing with the family.
“We appreciate the community for the prayers, messages of encouragement and the presence of supporters at court. We feel protected and uplifted by the unity shown by the community,” she said.
Ofentse further said: “We call on the community to remain united, calm and vigilant as the case continues. Our focus remains on justice, accountability and safety, while allowing the legal process to take its course.”
The Masina urged the community to come out in numbers and that transport will be provided when the accused appears in court again on 27 January.
