GAUTENG – Two hundred and twenty-four suspects were nabbed by the Detectives during their suspects tracing high density operation conducted on Wednesday 28 August 2024 until the early hours of Thursday 29 August 2024 in the Ekurhuleni District. Amongst the arrested suspects, 157 were arrested for contact crimes, 25 for contact related crime, 22 for other serious crimes and 53 for Gender based violence issues. The operations continued on Thursday 29 August 2024 in Etwatwa by members of law Enforcement agencies led by Brigadier Mbongeni Ngcobo where 13 undocumented persons were arrested, 8 suspects arrested for dealing and possession of drugs (Crystal meth). Dagga, Rock and Mandrax were confiscated, 13 Traffic fines issued to the motorists valued at R5000-00 and 6 illegal liquor outlets closed. A community Imbizo was conducted in parallel to the higher density operations in Barcelona area, in Etwatwa in order to allow the community to raise their voices wherever they have concerns, in relation to the services rendered by the Police Ekurhuleni District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole commended members for their efforts in order to ensure that the space of criminals is squeezed in Ekurhuleni District.
