EASTERN CAPE – The biggest winner at the SAPS Golf Fundraising Challenge hosted by the Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape at the Walmer Golf Club in Gqeberha yesterday was the South African Police Service Education Trust (SAPSET). A team that was led by the Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lt Gen Nomthetheleli Mene was announced as the overall winner of the Golf Challenge, which was held at the Walmer Golf Club in Gqeberha on Friday, 10 January 2025. The Golf Day is an annual charity and a fundraising event which aims to raise funds for the SAPSET. The main objective of the SAPSET is to create a fund for children of members of the South African Police Service, who died in the execution of their duties by financing the costs of such children’s educational needs. Apart from playing golf, a day was brightened and made exciting by several activities, which were intended to also assist in raising funds on the day, such as the lucky draw. Several sponsors donated substantial amounts of money towards the fund. The prize giving dinner brought the curtain down on the day’s proceedings, where team blue was announced as the overall winner. People and businesses that are interested to contribute towards SAPSET are urged to contact Colonel Christopher Joseph on 082 441 8717. Ends
