Media Statement ZWELITSHA – Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene and her Management were part of the mourners who went to pay their last respect to Constable Sivuyile Tshaka who was laid to rest today, 27 July 2024 at Ntabankulu. He was fatally shot in the line of duty at Mbizana while they were ambushed by approximately 20 suspects in a filling station. Mr Tshaka from the family described Sivuyile as a disciplined person who loved his family and his job. It is sad that he is living behind his siblings and his kids. The District Commissioner Major General Nompumelelo Majikijela expressed her heartfelt message to the family, and he thanked the members who sustained injuries for their bravery. She said police will not rest until the perpetrators are apprehended, and she assured the community that Police will continue to fight crime. The Provincial Commissioner warned the perpetrators that police will strengthen their policing and will ensure their safety at all times visibility. “We are a sick society, where we kill each other, and I encourage the communities to report these unlicensed firearms that are within the communities She thanked the family for sharing Sivuyile with us as SAPS, and he was one of the energetic foot soldiers. Police will continue to combact crime as SAPS mandate is to protect and serve the community, and as SAPS, we will not get tired to serve, “she concluded The SAPS Chaplain Warrant Officer (Rev) Wisani comforted the family in God’s grace
Mr Tshaka thanked the SAPS for the efforts in showing love and kindness, and that will never be forgotten by Sivuyile’s family.
