Media Statement ZWELITSHA – As means of empowering identity and unity amongst crime fighters in our communities, the Eastern Cape SAPS Management had the pleasure of handing over corporate and branded items to the Eastern Cape Community Policing Forum (CPF). This memorable event took place at the SAPS Eastern Cape Headquarters, today, 13 June 2024. Welcoming all attendees and highlighting the purpose of the day, Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Thandiswa Kupiso couldn’t hold back her excitement. “Today marks an important day in the SAPS Eastern Cape calendar of events as we celebrate the 30years of bridging the gap between SAPS and Community Policing Forum (CPF) . This is to strengthen the relationship and partnership between SAPS and CPF and may this be a reflection of our commitment in recognising the efforts of the community in blue in the fight against crime”. She expressed. Any uniform item helps create a sense of identity and unity among team members and therefore it should be worn and displayed with pride. She emphasized. In her Keynote Address, the Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene delivered a moving monologue, as she took pride in handing over all the items that will form part of SAPS corporate identity. As she handed over the branded items to all districts representatives, she took the time to encourage the recipients to safeguard all goods. “These are your tools of trade to be visible in all communities in the fight against crime and also in engagements with other external stakeholders,” she said. She also thanked the CPF members for always showing their support and cooperation by working hand and glove with members on the ground by fighting crime around the clock. “We know it is not an easy task, especially because we know you are doing it out of your free will, but it would be inappropriate not to show gratitude publicly in you efforts,” she concluded. Eastern Cape Provincial CPF Chairperson, Mr Donavan Buys applauded the initiative by SAPS Management as we are collectively excited over this gesture. “We truly appreciate the support and encouragement from the management and we pledge in fostering strong relations between the CPF and SAPS”. he ended.
In her vote of thanks, Deputy Provincial Commissioner: Support Service, Major General Nolitha Tito thanked the audience and recipients “As the three legged pot, SAPS, CPF and the Community we marginalize in building trust with the public “. “This may seem like a small function, but this will make a difference as you will be visible in all communities, she concluded”.
