Eastern Cape extortion hotline number launched

OR TAMBO DISTRICT – The Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene and her management have launched the Eastern Cape extortion hotline number today, 23 August 2024 at Mthatha, OR Tambo district.

This follows after an outcry by various communities on crimes of extortion, especially in OR Tambo and Nelson Mandela Bay policing precincts. On observation, it has been noticed that communities do not report to the police because they fear for their lives. With the above challenges, the Eastern Cape SAPS Management has launched a centralized contact number where incidents of extortion can be reported

SAPS urges the community members to report the crime of extortion to the hotline number 082 387 1561. You can remain anonymous
