Media Statement KWAZULU-NATAL – On Friday, 05 April 2024, Hawks members from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation received information from the community about two shops that were dealing in cannabis in Umkomaas. An intelligence driven operation conducted by Hawks from Port Shepstone Serious Organised Crime Investigation and KwaZulu-Natal Counter Narcotics resulted in the arrest of two suspects, aged 40 and 53, at Brissett Street and Barrow Street in Umkomaas. The suspects were arrested and they face a charge of dealing in cannabis and cannabis oil Act 140 of 1992 and for being in possession of cannabis and cannabis oil Act 140 of 1992 sect 4 (b). Stock and equipment with a street value of R43300-00 were seized by police. The suspects are expected to appear in the Scottburgh Magistrate’s court today, 08 April 2024. The KwaZulu-Natal Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation Provincial Head, Major General (Dr) Lesetja Senona commended the members for the good arrest. Ends
