DJ SBU REVEALS HIS REAL NATIONALITY AND SURNAME
In his latest YouTube video, podcaster DJ Sbu caused a stir when he revealed that his surname is actually not Leope. In fact, he is actually Swati and was born with a different surname than the one South Africans got to know him with.
In the video titled 5 reasons why you should move to South Africa, DJ Sbu tells people his biological surname is, in fact, Nkosi and not Leope. The surname Leope belongs to the man that raised him. He has since passed away.
LOOKING BACK…
“I’m originally Swati as well, according to my biological father, uNkosi. Can you believe that? May his soul rest in peace and may Ntate Leope rest in peace, who brought me up…whom I regard as my father.”
“He [Leope] basically brought me up after getting married to my moms. When he met my moms, my moms had already had me, and he was like, ‘No, this is gonna be my boy, and I’m gonna bring him up,’ and I’ll forever be grateful for the life Ntate Leope gave me,” the DJ explains.
In a previous interview on The Penuel Show podcast on YouTube, DJ Sbu revealed that he used to overspend during his younger days, ZAlebs reports.
“When it comes to finances, I’ve fallen, and I’ve got myself to blame and nobody else. From those Porches and just that lifestyle. I’ve lived the lifestyle; I’ve traveled, I’ve driven all these great cars, these sports cars. I’ve lived the nicest life, the celebrity life, partying and just throwing parties … as you grow older, you know better and do better … I was overspending… I was proud about it, but now I realize that I was dumb,” he said.
“I looked richer than I actually was,” the podcaster added.

HE CLAPS BACK AT HATERS ABOUT HIS ‘SCRUFFY’ NEW LOOK
DJ Sbu recently came under fire when he debuted his brand-new look. Not everyone is a fan of his scruffy look.
“Apparently, people are saying I don’t bathe. Guys, come on, there are more serious things we could be discussing in this country. Leave my beard and hair alone,” he said. He added that his longevity in the industry makes him not want to prove anything to anyone, “I have been working for many years, guys, and I don’t have anything to prove. I’m good,” he said, according to ZAlebs.
“Ni ni jwayela kabi mara (y’all are now being very disrespectful), but I love guys anyway. I am not shaving this beard and my hair. It doesn’t mean that when one lets their hair or beard grow, they don’t bathe. On a serious note, for those who care about me, I’m good and healthy. I’m on point. My team is okay, my family is good, children are awesome, business is growing and we are working,” he added.
