Media Statement GQEBERHA – The Nelson Mandela Bay District Commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata, applauded the detectives and the National Prosecution Authority for their collaboration to ensure that the suspect involved in a mob justice incident was brought to justice on Tuesday 08 April 2025. On 10 May 2023, at approximately 12:50, Sibusiso Demisi (30) was taken from his home in Sibriets Road, Missionvale, by a group of community members. He was accused of theft. Demisi was assaulted and the community used a tyre to set him alight. During the investigation a suspect was identified and arrested. On Tuesday 08 April 2025, Bonile Stofile (55) was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment in the Gqeberha Regional Court for the murder of Sibusiso Demisi. While commending the Detective Warrant Officer Khowa for his sterling work, the District Commissioner, Major General Vuyisile Ncata, strongly condemns any act of mob justice in every community, as it carries criminal implications to those responsible. He urged communities to be patient with investigations, as there are many elements that need to be considered. “SAPS has capable investigators who work around the clock, leaving no stones unturned to ensure that perpetrators are brought to book,” he concluded.
