Media Statement POLOKWANE – With over 15 years’ of dedicated service in the South African Police Service, Detective Sergeant Khorombi Patrick Manthaka of the Thohoyandou Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offenses (FCS) Unit is a shining hope for justice. Throughout his career, he has achieved remarkable victories for victims of gender-based violence, most notably securing three life sentences and 70 years’ of imprisonment this year alone for perpetrators, ensuring justice for five victims. Detective Sergeant Manthaka’s dedication has led to two major convictions that have brought perpetrators of gender-based violence to justice: On October 22, 2024, 35-year-old Makhavhu Mikovhe Vincent was sentenced to two life imprisonments plus 60 years’ at the Thohoyandou High Court. He was convicted of raping four women in Thohoyandou while pretending to be a Facebook prophet. On March 26, 2024, 59-year-old Nyadzani David Ramugondo was sentenced to life imprisonment plus 10 years’ for raping and attempting to murder his 14-year-old stepdaughter. What truly drives Detective Sergeant Manthaka is his deep-rooted passion for justice and his profound sense of empathy for the victims he serves.
