WESTERN CAPE – The Deputy Minister of Police, Ms Polly Boshielo has welcomed 1013 new Constable’s within the South African Police Service (SAPS) ranks. This is the last cohort of the 2023/2024 project 10 000 police trainees to graduate. The first group graduated in December 2024 at various SAPS academies. The cohort of new Constable’s that stood on parade today in the Westerm Cape commenced training in February 2024. The SAPS introduced a staggered recruitment, training and deployment process to ensure continued capacitation of police stations and all service points. 559 new Constable’s stood on parade at the Bishop Lavis training academy while 454 Constable’s stood on parade in Oudsthoorn. This new injection of blood will see more boots on the ground ahead of the busy festive season at all police stations and SAPS service points. “Ahead of you are years of dedicated service, and I am confident that you will perform your duties with utmost dedication. Your exemplary conduct on parade this morning reflects not only on yourselves but also on your commanders, and I take this opportunity to officially welcome you to the employ of the SAPS. Congratulations on choosing a career that places devotion to serving and protecting the inhabitants of the Republic and their property”, said DM Boshielo.
Forming part of the parades was the Deputy National Commissioner for Crime Detection, Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya, the Divisional Commisioner for Human Resources Development (HRD), Lieutenant General Bongiwe Zulu, the Provincial Commissioner for Western Cape, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile, the Provincial Commissioner for Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane and the Provincial Commissioner for Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola.
