Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The Prosecution and Investigation teams led by Advocate R Makgakga and Detective Sergeant Olebogeng Raphael Khoboko successfully secured a life imprisonment sentence that was handed down by the Kimberley High Court to 32-year-old Andy Christopher Kock, following the killing of policewoman, and partner, 27-year-old Pelonolo Salvestian Phillipus in Delportshoop on Sunday, 03 March 2024. The investigation revealed in Court that, on the said day the deceased was with her friends seated at a business establishment when the accused, kept on bothering her until they decided to leave the place. The accused followed them outside and stabbed the deceased with a bottle in her arm and left her bleeding in the care of her friends. The accused returned with a devils fork iron and chased them around stabbing the deceased friend on the forehead and the deceased 13 times in her body. The Court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life imprisonment for murder and another year and a half for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, counts 1 and 2 will run concurrently with the murder sentence. The accused is declared unfit to possess a firearm. The Frances Baard District Commissioner, Major General Charlotte Makgari commended both the Investigation and Prosecution team, citing that this success is as a result of strengthened capacity within the criminal justice system to address Gender-Based Violence and Femicide Crimes. The police will continue to drive prevention programmes that will ensure healing and rebuilding social cohesion. Ends
