Media Statement EASTERN CAPE – Yolandy Nortier (44) was arrested by the Gqeberha based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation of the Hawks jointly with National Prosecuting Authority on 19 August 2024 for charges of fraud and Contravention of Prevention of Organised Crime Act, 121 / 1998 . It is alleged that during the period between September 2019 and November 2022, Nortier employed as the debtor’s clerk for FSPA Managers & Consultants orchestrated fraudulent activities that allegedly prejudiced the company exorbitant amounts of cash. FSPA based in Newton Park in Gqeberha, trades as a business providing administrative and secretarial support to Sectional Title and Homeowners Association clients. The company manages 82 housing complexes across the Gqeberha region. Part of FSPA’s daily function is the maintaining of bank accounts as well as general ledgers of each of the 82 housing complexes .The various bank accounts are managed through a joint Trust account. Levies for each of the 82 housing complexes are paid from this account. It is further alleged that on 2 November 2022, the complainant in the case was alerted to the fact that a refund of levies to two different owners was paid into the same bank account and that prompted the lodging of a complaint with the Hawks. The investigations revealed that Nortier had 17 different bank accounts in her name wherein she diverted monies that were due to the clients thus prejudicing the company more than R1.6 million hence her arrest on 19 August 2024. Nortier made a short appearance at Gqeberha Specialised Commercial Crime Court on the very same day of her arrest where she was released on R100,00 bail due to her present socio –economic status. The matter is remanded to 9 September 2024 for the appointment of a legal representative. The Provincial Head Major General Mboiki Obed Ngwenya lauded the team for the success as it would deter such a conduct from the would be perpetrators. Ends
