Two Israeli soldiers were killed in a shooting near the Allenby Bridge crossing, the main border point between the West Bank and Jordan.
The victims were identified as 68-year-old Lieutenant Colonel Yitzhak Harosh and 20-year-old Sergeant Oran Hershko, both serving as reservists.
According to Israeli officials, the attacker arrived driving a truck that had been transporting humanitarian aid from Jordan. He opened fire near the crossing before being shot dead by security forces.

Jordanian authorities said the driver, Abdul Muttalib Al-Qaisi, was a civilian who had been working in aid delivery to Gaza for several months. They condemned the violence, describing it as harmful to both international law and Jordan’s ongoing humanitarian efforts.
The attack drew praise from Hamas, which framed it as retaliation for Israeli military actions in Gaza. The timing of the incident is notable, coming a year after another fatal shooting involving a Jordanian driver at the same crossing.
The Allenby Bridge, also called the King Hussein Bridge, is a crucial gateway for both goods and travelers. It stands as the only official entry point between the West Bank and Jordan that bypasses Israel. While Jordan and Israel maintain diplomatic and trade ties, relations remain strained over Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.
In response to the attack, authorities temporarily closed the crossing, halting aid and trade deliveries.
