In recent months, the community of Ward 6 in Petrusburg in the Free State has been confronted with sewer challenges that originated from the installation of a smaller sewer pipe.
The matter then forced the DA to launch a petition to push the municipality to address the wrong installation of the pipe by replacing it with the correct one.
The municipality has been committed over the weekend to addressing the sewer blockage challenges by rebuilding the sewer plant and unblocking the blocked manholes.
The DA will continue to monitor the progress and ensure that the sewer challenges are addressed.
Thabo Nthapo DA councillor in the Letsemeng Local Municipality in the Free State said they will continue with the petition, as residents have indeed raised concerns over the incorrect pipe being fitted to push the effluent sewer.
