This follows the Democratic Alliance recent oversight visit, where they discovered the clinic is in a state of neglect, putting the safety and dignity of both patients and staff at risk.
Free State Democratic Alliance Spokesperson Heidre Malgas
the area around the clinic is overrun with weeds and untrimmed grass, and a broken fence, which has led to security issues, including reported break-ins.
More alarming is the persistent problem of water leaks at the facility. This is simply unacceptable, especially since Maluti-a-Phofung often faces water outages that can last for days.
Patients are also dealing with unreasonably long waiting times. Some residents have indicated that they sometimes arrive as early as 07:30 and still haven’t been seen by 12:15.
To make matters worse, some of the clinic’s restrooms aren’t working, which poses serious health risks for everyone at the facility, said Malgas
Malgas concluded that they will be raising the matter in the Free State Legislature and will keep pushing for more accountability at a departmental level. The DA remains dedicated to advocating for safe, dignified, and quality healthcare services for all residents of the Free State.
