Responding to a query throughout a media briefing in Benoni, Gauteng ANC secretary Jacob Khawe conceded there have been “lessons the ANC has learnt from all these challenges”.

“Sometimes we diagnose an issue and do what precisely created an issue. Within the context of renewal, we’ve got to do the appropriate factor when discovering issues. We did uncover that there was a manipulation of processes, one thing which has been famous within the diagnostic report of the [national general council] and subsequently on the Nasrec nationwide convention.

“But we have not stopped doing these things. There is a lesson learnt on the Ekurhuleni matter and I am sure we will do things better in the future.”

Khawe mentioned a choice to forge forward with the provincial elective convention, regardless of tensions, was geared “to save the conference”.

“We did talk to our branches and different buildings, what led to our issue for not beginning the convention on time. ‘We could not start the gathering without the secretary and chair’ so the matter was referred again to the PEC.

“We are hopeful of a newly elected leadership finding a solution to it by next month. The threat of a court action will always be there.”

In tune and in slogans, ANC delegates supporting Lesufi and Maile shouted and taunted one another contained in the packed auditorium, draped within the black, inexperienced and gold colors of the get together. The gathering is predicted to elect a brand new provincial management over the weekend.
