The urgent application brought by suspended Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi to interdict his disciplinary hearing has been dismissed by the court.
Mkhwanazi sought to halt the proceedings on grounds of alleged unlawfulness, arguing that they were based on an employment contract that had already terminated.
Despite this claim, the court rejected the interdict, allowing the disciplinary process to proceed.
No order as to costs was made in the ruling. This development comes amid ongoing scrutiny of Mkhwanazi, who faces allegations of misconduct related to his tenure at EMPD, including matters probed by the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
