Counterfeit, contraband and ilicit goods operation yields success in Midrand, Johannesburg District

PARKTOWN – A joint operation conducted by the Gauteng Counterfeit Unit, Vispol, Commercial Crime, Brand Protectors, and Reservist has resulted in the seizure of counterfeit and illicit goods worth R 627 290-00.

The operation took place on Monday, 30 December 2024, in Midrand, Johannesburg District. The confiscated items includes 12 882 counterfeit and illicit goods clothing, toys, stationary, Louis Vuitton handbags and poisons.

The operation is a significant blow to the trade of counterfeit and illicit goods in the Johannesburg District.
