Media Statement MANGAUNG – The Free State Police conferred ranks to the newly promoted members at Mangaung Conference Hall on 05 December 2024. These deserving commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers are from Public Order Policing within the Free State. The ceremony was opened with a scripture reading and prayer by Chaplain Captain Monyaki. Brig Botha the Provincial Head of Operational Response Services shared the purpose of the day which is to bestow new ranks to the promoted members. Major General Solly Lesia, Deputy Provincial Commissioner of Policing congratulated the newly promoted officers and members. During his address he encouraged officers to form formidable teams in their new workplace solely in the fight against crime and service delivery. Members were advised to stay away from criminal activities and take their new authority with responsibility and care. Maj Gen Lesia further encouraged members to remain ethical and professional at times at their new positions. “As you now occupy a new position of authority do it with the utmost respect and show excellent leadership skills as you lead a team of employees under your command,” concluded Gen Lesia. A total of 33 members consisting of six Lieutenant Colonels, 18 Captains and nine Warrant Officers were bestowed with new ranks. Colonel Morena Motshewana thanked all the role players in making this ceremony a special one to these deserving promoted members.
