KIMBERLEY – Justice prevailed after nine years when the Colesberg Regional Court sentenced two men to a combined total of 35 years’ direct imprisonment for their involvement in the rape of a 15-year-old teenage girl in 2016. According to court proceedings, on Saturday, 27 February 2016, the victim was visiting a male friend at his residence and decided to spend the night. During the night, she was awakened by the male friend and three other individuals, who took turns raping her before fleeing the scene. The victim reported the incident at the Kuyasa Police Station and was taken to a local hospital for medical examination. A case of rape was subsequently opened, and all four suspects aged between 18 and 28 including the male friend, were arrested and charged.
