EASTERN CAPE – The Hawks have made a remarkable job in making sure that Ntsindi Lovers Mjikwa (44) was successful slammed with 180 years imprisonment by the Maloti Regional court on 11 March 2025 for numerous counts of robbery with aggravation and attempted murder. Mjikwa and his co-accused Balaza Thandisizwe (44) were arrested by the Hawks in 2021 respectively. The couple has been in custody ever since their detention and later Balaza was released on R1000 bail. Balaza’s matter is currently in trial stage. On 11 November 2020, the then Cash Pay Masters Services together with Fidelity Cash Solution were at Bethel Post Office in Maloti for pension pay-out, where the security randomly robbed by unknown heavily armed suspects. During the incident, shootout ensued between the security and suspects, consequently, the security personnel sustained injuries. Therefore, an undisclosed amount of cash was taken and their firearms were robbed. Through a rigorous investigation by the Hawks led to the arrest of Mjikwa in 2021 and he was kept in custody ever since his arrest. Mjikwa made several court appearance until his sentencing by Maloti Regional court on 11 March 2025. Mjikwa was sentenced as follows: -Count 1- Conspiracy to robbery with aggravation undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 2 – Robbery to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 3 – Robbery to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 4 – Robbery to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 5 – Robbery to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 6 – Robbery to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 7 – Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 8 – Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 9 – Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 10 – Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 11 – Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition to undergo 3 years imprisonment -Count 12 – Attempted murder to undergo 10 years imprisonment -Count 13 – Attempted murder to undergo 10 years imprisonment -Count 14 – kidnapping to undergo 5 years imprisonment -Count 15 – Theft of motor vehicle to undergo 15 years imprisonment -Count 16 – Malicious damage to property to undergo 2 years imprisonment The accused was smashed with 180 years collective sentence, however Mjikwa will serve 15 years behind bars as count 2 to 16 will run concurrently.
