CHRIS HANI – To support and bring about awareness on Child Protection Week, Chris Hani District Commissioner, Major General Rudolph Adolph joined hands together with the Molteno Community Police Forum, Spiritual Crime Prevention, and Samaritans Feet NGO from Cape Town in handing over school shoes from different schools around Molteno. National Child Protection Week aims to raise awareness of the need to protect children against any form of abuse, and it is commemorated annually. This year, it is celebrated under the “Theme” Every conversation matters. Initiated by the foot soldiers from Molteno SAPS, the men and women in blue joined forces with the Local Community Police Forum and they paid a visit to six (6) different schools from within the Chris Hani District where they interacted with various school learners during the well-attended awareness program. The team had the pleasure of donating shoes and sanitary towels to the learners, and they also took the time to engage with the learners on various topics such as the use of drugs, sexual abuse, etc. In his address, the District Commissioner thanked the external stakeholders that formed part and assisted the Community of Molteno and he also used this time to give hope to the young kids. ”Projects of this nature do not only bring us together for fun times but they unite us and offer us an opportunity to work toward building a safer community,” he shared.
He also took the platform to motivate and encourage the learners to strive for excellence, “Let today be a reminder that no matter what challenges you face in life, you matter, and your futures matter. Be reminded that education is what will unlock a better and brighter future for you. Please, I can never stress this enough crime does not and will never pay,” he expressed.
