It’s been one other up-and-down begin to the season for Chiefs, with the Soweto giants dwelling down in ninth place on the DStv Premiership standings, though they’ve progressed to the MTN8 semi-finals.

In the newest version of iDiski Times, former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has apparently recognized the gamers he believes ought to have been snapped up by the membership.

“They don’t want to compete, they were supposed to sign Kermit (Erasmus),” he informed iDiski Times in an interview. “They are supposed to go all out to get [Sphelele] Mkhulise from Sundowns, he’s not being used. Break the account, yes for quality.

“Chiefs should’ve gone for Mkhulise, also for me they should’ve gone for [Mduduzi] Mdantsane from Cape Town City, because I thought they would’ve gone for (Ndabayithethwa) Ndlondlo, but now they kept quiet. I’m shocked. They’re not going to compete, I’m sorry, unfortunately, because I don’t think the players they’ve got are better than the players they’ve let go.”

Meanwhile, throughout the pre-season, it was reported for fairly a while that Bafana Bafana playmaker Pule Mmodi was one of many newest stars on Kaizer Chiefs’ goal record, however ultimately it emerged that he’s now set to stick with Golden Arrows as negotiations hit a stumbling block.

According to some studies, Arrows had been really searching for ‘less than R3-million’ as his present contract expires on the finish of the 2022/2023 season, and he can be free to signal for any group within the subsequent January window.

Ultimately, Mmodi has refocused his efforts at Arrows, discovered good type and fought his means onto the Bafana Bafana radar.

It’s now reported by Soccer Laduma that Arrows are eager to increase the contract of Mmodi, who has lower than 10 months left on his contract. Such an extension would function an actual present of intent and finish any hopes Chiefs had of snapping up the 29-year-old within the subsequent switch window. Amakhosi are mentioned to be monitoring the state of affairs, although.

Mmodi lately opened up on his feelings after the Chiefs transfer didn’t materialise.

“I was never disturbed. Since the move didn’t happen, I told myself that I will work hard and there’s nothing I can do,” Mmodi mentioned after he was requested by iDiski Times. “But initially I was down, but there was nothing I could do.”

Arrows co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi additionally beforehand shared his ideas on the saga.

“It wasn’t easy, I must be honest. In our first week it was very difficult to deal with Pule psychologically because he was too sure that he is leaving the club,” the Arrows coach mentioned, as quoted by SABC Sport.

“But what we reminded him is that the club is not fighting [against] Pule. The club is the one that said, ‘Pule, if you find something, come to us and we will release you.’ The club was also active in trying to help him find something.

“It was just not meant to be. But he is better now and has accepted the situation and is now performing…ready for the new season. He struggled in early pre-season [for] a few days, especially the first week from the holidays. Now he is ready, and if we are playing tomorrow then Pule will play and he will perform,” Vilakazi concluded.

It nonetheless stays to be seen if Mmodi might ultimately be a part of Chiefs’ rebuilt squad

Although some rumours had instructed Mmodi had pushed for a switch request, his agent Solomon Seobe at all times refuted this.

“There is no agreement between the two clubs [Arrows and Chiefs]. Nothing has changed. He is still contracted to Arrows until next year,” he said.

“If there is no agreement, it means he will stay and honour his contract with Arrows. Then next year he would be able to sign with a club of his choice.”
