Public outrage has erupted over expected knock-on effects on transport fares, food prices, and living costs.

According to a KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) based newspaper, Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at MultiChoice, stated that these shows ensure content is produced by youth-owned companies and features a mix of established actors and newcomers.

All ten shows are set to run for ten weeks, premiering on May 11 and concluding in July.”We are launching these shows with great excitement, especially since the channel recently introduced two programs that viewers have thoroughly enjoyed: The Makhenes and Mgidi Moms.

The fan-favourite Isithembu SikaMsongelwa has also returned, and we have no doubt that the second season will perform as well as the first,” said Adonisi.

“We thank all the companies that have partnered with us in launching these shows. We believe their future in this industry is bright, and we look forward to seeing them produce major, long-running series for us in the future.”Adonisi added that viewers have shown a significant interest in shorter series, prompting the channel to focus on this format for the time being—a strategy they intend to maintain.

“Long-running shows tend to eventually lose viewer interest; therefore, creating smaller productions that reach a resolution quickly is a strategy that works well for us,” she explained. Among the new titles is Love At Second Sight, starring Amanda Seome, Nduduzo Zuma, Aluve Mjali, and Nimrod Nkosi.

Another series, titled Kuningi, features Samkelo Ndlovu, Kay Sibiya, Simphiwe Ngema, Andy Mnguni, and Ratanang Mogotsi. Other upcoming shows include Amanzi Endlini, Ke Nyala Jwang?, Lobola lama 2000, and Mamfundisi Bae.

The production companies behind these projects include Ngomoya Films, Weldun Media, Pula Bakgaga, Behind the Best, and Mthakathi Entertainment.

The IEC stated that the meeting is part of its stakeholder engagements aimed at strengthening democratic processes and safeguarding electoral integrity.

This comes after President Cyril Ramaphosa officially announced November 4 as the date for the local government elections, setting in motion the process for South Africans to elect their municipal leaders.

“This engagement forms part of the commission’s ongoing stakeholder outreach in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), following a successful week-long programme of consultations conducted from 20-24 April 2024, in preparation for the 4 November 2026 municipal elections,” the IEC said in a statement released on Sunday.

The MKP revived its grievances in late 2024 and early 2025, alleging widespread rigging and a “blackout” of the results dashboard during the May 2024 elections.

Most recently, in April 2026, Zuma suggested the party might call for the postponement of the upcoming local government elections until these disputes are resolved.

As of June 2025, the MKP had lodged formal complaints regarding voter rolls for local by-elections, specifically in Ward 13 (Seshego).

The party alleges that non-residents were registered in the system.

Meanwhile, the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the IEC have investigated claims that the MKP forged thousands of signatures to meet registration requirements for the 2024 ballot.

Additionally, ActionSA has petitioned the IEC to investigate the MKP’s financial declarations, claiming a significant discrepancy between the party’s reported donations (approximately R380,000) and the estimated R100 million cost of its 2024 national campaign. While the Electoral Court and Constitutional Court previously confirmed that the MKP’s initial registration was legally compliant, dismissing challenges from the ANC, other legal battles have persisted.

The high-profile case regarding Zuma’s eligibility to serve as an MP was settled by the Constitutional Court in May 2024, which ruled that he was ineligible due to his contempt-of-court conviction.

Furthermore, multiple legal attempts by party founder Jabulani Khumalo to be reinstated as the party’s leader, claiming his removal by Zuma was fraudulent, have been dismissed by the courts.

A woman known as Pamela Masango has been arrested after accusing her boyfriend of being a hitman who intended to shoot Ngizwe Mchunu during a Maskandi event held at Madadeni College Stadium in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) on Saturday night.

Pamela’s boyfriend, Nkululeko Shabalala, a resident of Osizweni and the man accused of being a hitman, revealed that the said woman has severely damaged his reputation, which is why he decided to open a case against her, as the whole world now views him as an assassin.

Shabalala said Pamela has shown great remorse and has been pleading with him, even sending voice notes asking him to forgive her for lying in a packed stadium.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Madadeni Court soon.

According to a statement from the NCC, approximately 15 officers entered the home around 4 am. Adams, who is said to have moved out of the property two months ago, was not present. The current occupants, a woman and her small children, were reportedly harassed during the operation.

The party alleges that the officers, some wearing balaclavas, pointed firearms at the residents, forcibly photographed their ID documents, refused to identify themselves, and did not produce a search warrant or arrest warrant. A 12-year-old boy was allegedly assaulted, leaving family members traumatised.

Adams has described the incident as unlawful and is planning to open criminal charges, including intimidation, against the officers involved and a senior SAPS official. The NCC has called it an attempted kidnapping and part of an ongoing feud linked to Adams’ public allegations of corruption within police ranks. He is scheduled to hold a press conference on Sunday at Parliament.
