Media Statement MPUMALANGA – Moosa Sibusiso Vilakazi (39), appeared before the Tonga Magistrates Court on Thursday, 4 July 2024 after a warrant of arrest was authorised and executed against him for contravening the firearms control Act 60 of 2000 Sec 120(8), failure to secure a firearm. It is alleged that on 11 August 2023, a cash in transit robbery took place at Malelane road towards Schoemansdal. The information led police to a safe house where the getaway vehicles were parked in a garage. The team searched the house and found a firearm lying on a bed. The firearm was seized and it was determined through the serial number that it belongs to Moosa Vilakazi. A case of negligent loss of firearm was registered and the team continued with investigation. Investigation was finalized, warrant of arrest was authorised and executed on Thursday, 4 July 2024 and the suspect appeared in the Tonga Magistrates Court on the same day. Vilakazi was released on a warning and he is also on bail for a cash in transit robbery.
The case was transferred to Nelspruit Regional court to appear on 26 July 2024 for centralising all his cases. Investigation is continuing.
