Nigerian online sensation Carter Efe has suffered a heartbreaking setback after his plans to stream live from the 2026 FIFA World Cup final were brought to an abrupt halt by a delayed United States visa decision.

The comedian and streamer, whose real name is Oderhohwo Joseph Efe, had hoped to attend Saturday’s World Cup final at New Jersey Stadium, where he planned to create live content for his millions of followers. Instead, his long awaited trip has been thrown into uncertainty after US authorities informed him that his visa application remains pending approval.

The latest development has left the popular entertainer devastated and disappointed, ending what many of his supporters believed would be one of the biggest moments of his streaming career.

According to Carter Efe, this marks his fourth unsuccessful attempt to secure entry into the United States. The latest application reportedly came despite efforts from American streaming star Kai Cenat, who had tried to assist in making the trip possible.

Reacting to the news, Carter Efe openly shared his frustration with fans.

“We’re trapped in this country. We can’t go anywhere we want. We’re finished. We are doomed.”

The emotional statement quickly spread across social media as fans expressed sympathy and disappointment over the outcome.

Only days earlier, excitement had filled Carter Efe’s social media pages. Videos showed him celebrating at a Nigerian airport, appearing convinced that his journey to the United States was finally about to begin.

That optimism disappeared when he reportedly received another email informing him that his visa application had not yet been approved, forcing him to abandon his travel plans for the World Cup final.

Carter Efe first gained attention in 2019 through his energetic comedy skits, drawing inspiration from fellow Nigerian content creator Sydney Talker. His loud humour, expressive reactions and street style comedy quickly earned him a loyal online following.

His popularity reached new heights in 2022 with the release of Machala, featuring Berri Tiga. The song, dedicated to Nigerian music superstar Wizkid, became a viral hit and topped music charts across Nigeria.

Since then, Carter Efe has expanded beyond comedy into music and live streaming, building a substantial audience across Twitch and other digital platforms. His collaborations with comedians, musicians and influencers have cemented his place as one of Nigeria’s most recognisable online entertainers.

While his World Cup dream has been put on hold for now, fans continue to hope that the visa process will eventually be resolved, allowing the streamer to fulfil his ambition of creating international content in the future.
