Media Statement KIMBERLEY – The Carnarvon Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit secured a 20 years’ prison sentence for two Vosburg rapes on 25 April 2024 in the De Aar Regional Court. On 01 February 2019 at about 23:00, the female victim (35) was sleeping in her house in Vosburg when the accused broke into her residence and raped her. The victim recognized the suspect as Pedro Hendricks (27) aka “Trossie” and notified police after he fled the scene. Whilst on bail, he raped a second 23-year-old female in Vosburg on 02 June 2022. He was immediately arrested, and bail was successfully opposed. He was found guilty for both cases of rape and sentenced on 25 April 2024 as follows: Count 1: 10 years’ direct imprisonment. Count 2: 10 years’ direct imprisonment. The Northern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Koliswa Otola, commended Detective Sergeant Ayanda Phillips for his meticulous investigation that ensured no impunity is granted to the perpetrator of these heinous gender-based violence and femicide crimes.
