Media Statement PARKROAD – The Free State Provincial Family Violence, Child Protection, and Sexual Offences Unit welcomes the conviction and sentencing of 38-year-old Nkosinathi Mangaliso to 15 years imprisonment handed down by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court. Mangaliso was found guilty of raping a 30-year-old woman on 16 June 2023. The incident happened on Douglas Street in Bloemfontein when the victim asked the caretaker for help getting into her apartment after losing her keys. The victim was sexually assaulted by the caretaker, who took advantage of her drunkenness. The case was transferred to the Parkweg FCS Unit under the competent leadership of Sergeant Tshitso Mofokeng, in collaboration with Advocate York of the National Prosecuting Authority. Mangaliso was arrested on 17 June 2023 and was released on bail. The accused was found guilty and sentenced to 15 years direct imprisonment for rape.
