Media Statement KOPANONG – Tshedisa Abram, also known as Alex Mpasi (44), has been sentenced for the gruesome murder in Caleb Motshabi that occurred in 2023. On Sunday, 24 December 2023, Kopanong Police received information regarding a body wrapped in cellophane inside a shack in Caleb Motshabi. Police members swiftly responded to the address. Upon arrival, they found the shack locked, but observed drag marks leading to the pit toilet. Upon inspecting the pit toilet, they discovered the body of 34-year-old Sinah Bantjies, wrapped in cellophane and covered in mud.
The suspect, aged 43, who had fled the scene, was swiftly traced and apprehended in the Caleb Motshabi section by Kopanong Detectives. Investigating Officer Sergeant Sechaba Matli, in collaboration with the National Prosecuting Authority, led by Advocate Didi, presented sufficient evidence, resulting in the suspect being sentenced to 23 years of direct imprisonment. This includes 20 years for murder and 3 years for obstructing justice, as ruled by the Bloemfontein High Court.
