Media Statement SELOSESHA – SAPS Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit arrested a 20-year-old suspect following a kidnapping incident. On 07 April 2024 at about 16:00, the 15-year-old girl reportedly left home in Zone 1 Thaba Nchu to attend a Women’s Care workshop in Phelindaba. Her mother became worried at around 20:00 the same evening when her daughter failed to return home. Attempts to call her on her cellphone were unsuccessful. The following day, 08 April 2024 at about 07:00, the mother received a call from an unknown male using her daughter’s cellphone. The unknown male demanded ransom for her daughter’s release. The distraught mother immediately reported the incident at Selosesha police station and a case of kidnapping was opened for investigation. Selosesha’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses Unit took over the investigation and the victim was traced and found at her boyfriend’s place. The 20-year-old boyfriend was arrested for kidnapping. He will appear in the Selosesha Magistrate Court soon. Ends
