BOTSHABELO – The Botshabelo Task Team has successfully apprehended a 35-year-old suspect wanted in connection with a rape and murder case. Following reports that the suspect was on the run, members of the Task Team were deployed to locate and arrest him. On 24 February 2025, at approximately 20:30, the team received a tip-off regarding a vehicle travelling through Section F. The team swiftly responded, located the vehicle, and conducted a tactical stop. The suspect, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was positively identified and arrested. The arrest stems from the alleged repeated rape of a 30-year-old victim over a two-day period at E Section, Botshabelo. The suspect is also alleged to have fatally stabbed a 34-year-old woman who attempted to leave his residence after consuming wine he had provided. The suspect was apprehended as he was reportedly preparing to flee Botshabelo. The 35-year-old suspect will appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate Court on Wednesday 26 February 2025 on charges of rape and murder. Ends
