Dimakatso David Mokwena, the Senior Manager of Communications at the Border Management Authority (BMA), appeared in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today to face charges of malicious damage to property. The incident was reported to the Hercules SAPS.
Mokwena, a former Colonel in the South African Police Service, is accused of causing damage to security cameras at his residence, which is located in a security complex.
On the day of the incident, the school transport arrived to pick up Mokwena’s child. However, a security guard denied the driver access, citing concerns over the vehicle being overloaded.
In response, Mokwena allegedly approached the security gate and damaged the cameras, with an estimated value of R18,000 in damages.
The case has been postponed until 25 April 2025 for further investigation, and Mokwena’s bail has been extended pending the outcome of the proceedings.
