A 40-year-old man was arrested in Bloemspruit for the alleged possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Free State Provincial Corporate Communication said it was on 21 June 2025 at approximately 19:00, Members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit in Bloemfontein, acting on intelligence-led information, proceeded to a shack at Pieterswart, Bloemspruit
Upon arrival, officers tactically approached the residence and found a 40-year-old. The members introduced themselves and the reason for their search.
During the search, a black 7.5-9mm Para pistol was discovered hidden under a mattress in the bedroom. The firearm was loaded with rounds of live ammunition,
The 40-year old was immediately arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He will appear in cout on Monday 23 June 2025.
