Richard, a respected vice president of the Bayelsa Real Estate Association, never imagined that helping a trusted friend would cost him his life.
It all began when George, his longtime friend, told him he had land to sell. Eager to assist, Richard quickly connected him with buyers who paid George ₦9 million for the property. But when the buyers asked for the land documents, George claimed he had left them at home. Richard vouched for him, assuring everyone that George would deliver.
Days went by, and George’s excuses piled up. Then, Richard received a call from a young woman—George’s girlfriend—who told him to meet them at a hotel to collect the papers. That meeting was the last time Richard was seen alive.
When Richard failed to return home, his wife grew anxious. Though he ignored her calls, he kept sending cryptic chats, claiming he was “on the run” after a deal went wrong. Meanwhile, George told police a different story—that he had refunded the ₦9 million to Richard and no longer wished to sell the land.
Suspicion deepened when the association chairman investigated the land site. A farmer warned him away, recalling hearing gunshots days earlier and noting a vehicle’s license plate. That car turned out to be George’s.
Further digging revealed George had transferred ₦1 million to his girlfriend, Tee Salvage, who was preparing to flee. Police arrested her just as she was packing up a truck. Inside, they discovered the weapon used to kill Richard and other tools linked to the crime.
George was later caught attempting to leave the country. Investigators believe Richard’s wife was also being lured into a deadly trap, but her instincts and quick action saved her life.
It turns out George was married, and Tee was his side lover. Together, they are suspected of being behind other crimes beyond Richard’s case.
This tragic story is a chilling reminder: not every pretty face online is what it seems. Sometimes, beauty is just the bait for something far more dangerous.
