18 January 2025 – The South African U17 Women’s National Team beat Gabon 21-2 on aggregate on Saturday to qualify for the second round of the World Cup qualifiers.
South Africa went into the second leg match leading 12-1 from the away leg in Gabon.
Bantwana won the second leg 9-1 after conceding one goal.
The goals against Gabon at Lucas Moripe Stadium came courtesy of hattricks from Nomfundo Nzuza and Lilani Horak. Khwezi Khoza also got on the score sheet on the day alongside Katlego Mohale and Leonay Kock.
South Africa will now play Nigeria in the second round of the 2025 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup on dates yet to be confirmed by the Confédération of African Football.
