South African music icon Professor has officially returned to the airwaves with his latest single, “Iskoqokoqo,” a masterfully crafted track that bridges the golden era of Kwaito with the driving modern sounds of 3 Step and Gqom.

Produced by rising producer and Professor’s trusted creative partner Larny, alongside Essa Kay, the single strikes a perfect balance between nostalgic influences and cutting-edge contemporary production.

“Iskoqokoqo” serves as a sonic evolution for the legendary artist. It cleverly pays homage to Professor’s iconic, chart-topping classic “Imoto,” yet stands entirely on its own feet.

By introducing updated lyrical content and modern production techniques, the track is tailor-made to resonate with today’s younger music lovers while keeping day-one fans firmly on the dance floor.

What sets “Iskoqokoqo” apart is its ability to balance infectious energy with a profound social commentary.

Beneath the driving, upbeat production, Professor addresses the critical issue of Black-on-Black violence—specifically exploring how systematic or community violence can often be disguised as a necessary part of “the hustle” and everyday survival.

Rather than adopting a heavy, somber, or confrontational tone, the track uses the universal language of music and dance as a vehicle for healing.

It invites listeners to reflect deeply on these socio-economic realities while maintaining an undeniably positive, uplifting energy.

Designed with a family-friendly message and no age restrictions, the single ensures wide accessibility. “Iskoqokoqo” is primed to dominate both local radio airwaves and festive season playlists, proving once again that Professor remains a masterful storyteller capable of moving both the hearts and feet of the nation.
