ATM bombing investigation leads to arrest

PARKTOWN – A 44-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the ongoing ATM bombing investigations.

A joint operation by the Police’s Tactical Response Team, Murder and Robbery Unit, Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD), and Vusela Intelligence Services led to the arrest of the suspect in Katlehong North yesterday.

The team searched a house in Katlehong North after receiving a tip-off, finding detonators and an undisclosed amount of ink-stained banknotes. The suspect is currently facing charges related to the ATM bombings. The arrested suspect will appear in court soon.

Possibility of further arrest cannot be ruled out at this stage.
