Arrest of suspect for Walter Sisulu University shooting incident

EASTERN CAPE – The Eastern Cape South African Police Service can confirm that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the shooting incident at Walter Sisulu University on Tuesday.

The 54-year-old suspect has been arrested today, 17 April 2025 in Mthatha. He has been charged with murder and attempted murder. He is due to appear in court on 22 April 2025.

While this arrest is a critical step, the investigation remains active. No further details will be released at this time to preserve the integrity of the case. Updates will be provided as appropriate.
