South Africa’s International Relations Director General Zane Dangor says Argentina was the only G20 nation to raise concerns about the Leaders’ Declaration during negotiations.
Global delegations, with the exception of the United States, are gathered in Johannesburg as South Africa hosts its historic G20 Summit. Despite Argentina’s reservations, the declaration was adopted on Friday after broad consensus was reached among the G20 Sherpas.
Argentina’s President Javier Milei did not attend the summit in Nasrec and instead sent his Foreign Minister Pablo Quirino to represent the country. Milei, who has been in office for two years, has not provided any reasons for withdrawing from the G20 Leaders Summit hosted by South Africa.
