GAUTENG – In a proactive effort to combat drug-related crime, members of the Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) made a significant arrest on Tuesday, 15 April 2025, while patrolling along Adler Street in Newclare. The team noticed two (2) male individuals exhibiting suspicious behaviour and promptly approached them to investigate further. After introducing themselves, AGU members obtained permission to conduct a search. During the search of one (1) of the individuals and the vehicle, the AGU team discovered one-hundred-and-sixty (160) ziplock packets containing substances suspected to be CAT drugs, along with cash believed to be the proceeds of illegal activities. The suspect was immediately informed of his arrest and taken to a local police station for detention. The seized exhibits will be used as evidence for ongoing investigations, and the 28-year-old suspect will soon appear in the respective court. “The swift action of our AGU members exemplifies our commitment to keeping our communities safe from the dangers of drug abuse and trafficking,” said AGU Commander, Brigadier Maphoto. “We will continue to work diligently to disrupt criminal activities and hold offenders accountable.” Ends
