Media Statement HEIDEDAL – Provincial Anti-Gang Unit members have arrested a male during a stop and search of his vehicle. An unlicensed firearm and ammunition were recovered. On Monday, 07 April 2025, at approximately12:15, members of the Provincial Anti-Gang Unit swiftly acted on intelligence-led information regarding a male in possession of a firearm in a red Toyota vehicle in Waaihoek Street, Heidedal. Upon arrival at the location, police officers noticed a 36-year-old male seated inside the vehicle. A thorough search of the vehicle was conducted, which resulted in the discovery of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition concealed under the vehicle’s carpet. The suspect was immediately arrested and detained on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. He is expected to appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court soon. Ends
