Media Statement NAMAHADI – It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we confirm the tragic loss of two dedicated police officers who were fatally shot while on duty in Namahadi this past weekend. The fallen officers have been identified as Constable Sipho Mohapi (45) and Constable Gedione Motloung (39). Both officers served with unwavering dedication and selflessness, upholding the values of the police service and protecting the communities they served. They had both more than 12 years of policing experience each. The members were killed when they reacted to a house robbery complaint on Saturday 4 January 2025 in Namahadi in the Free State. “This senseless act of violence has left our organization and the Namahadi community in shock and mourning. We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends and colleagues of our fallen heroes during this incredibly difficult time,” said the Provincial Commissioner of the police in the Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane. An extensive investigation is underway to ensure that those responsible for this heinous crime are brought to justice. The investigation is being handled by the DPCI in the Free State.
