Media Statement WESTERN CAPE – The Bellville based Serious Organised Crime Investigation (SANEB) team have on 19 April 2024 arrested a 75-year-old Eric Motepe on charges of dealing in drugs. He appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrates’ Court on 22 April 2024 and the matter is postponed to 29 April 2024 for bail application. His arrest follows after the Hawks have on 11 May 2023 executed a search in Magaliesburg. During the search they discovered an illegal mandrax laboratory. He is joining the other two accused, Keorapetse Elias Motsepe (39) and Mzingisi Makoloda (73) who were immediately arrested. The latter has since been sentenced after a plea agreement with the state to four years’ imprisonment or pay a fine of two hundred thousand rands (R200 000.00). The matter against Motsepe was remanded to 22 May 2024 to the Gauteng division of the High Court for his indictment. Ends
