16 August 2024- The South African U17 Men’s National Team (Amajimbos) beat their Lesotho counterparts 4-0 in an international friendly match out at UJ Soweto Campus on Friday afternoon.
First half goals from Sive Pama, Selwyn Steven and Teboho Mlangeni put the South Africans in the driver’s seat.
Head Coach Vela Khumalo changed the team in the second half to give more players a chance to execute the national philosophy.
These changes saw the team convert one more goal by Anovuyo Mgoqi and give Amajimbos the comfortable 4-0 victory over their neighbours.
Speaking to www.safa.net, Khumalo said he was happy with the performance in the first half but realized that at times their playing style needs to adapt to the opponent.
“We were satisfied with our core team as they understand the way we play, so I have no complaint with our first half,” said Khumalo.
” In the second half we brought in new players who still need to understand what we want from them. They managed to play as a unit, but the standard of the match had to drop because of the quality of the opponent.
“On Sunday, 18 August 2024 we will give the other pool of players a go against Lesotho to make sure that we get the best out of them, and they implement everything we have worked on this week.”
