Media Statement NELSPRUIT – On Monday, 15 April 2024, a 22-year-old man is expected to parade before the Emalahleni Magistrate’s Court and narrate his plight to the court as to why he allegedly killed a 25-year-old man on Wednesday, 10 April 2024, at approximately 18:25, in Ackerville near Witbank. Currently the Vosman Detectives are hard at work with a view to extract more information relating to the incident however, a preliminary investigation revealed that on the above-mentioned date, Police who were on duty, tasked with patrols and visibility, received information about a victim who was fatally stabbed. They then responded swiftly and on arrival at the scene, they found a man on the roof of a school. Police instructed him to come down as information received, fingered him as the person of interest on the murder incident. The man eventually descended to the ground. He then informed them that he feared for his dear life as the community wanted to violently attack him. Some community members, as well as the suspect, led police to the victim who was lying motionless. All relevant structures were summoned to the scene but unfortunately, the victim was declared dead. A snip probe revealed the obvious cause of death was as a result of stabbing and the alleged murder weapons, a knife, was also found. It is against this backdrop that the suspect will be subjected to a court process for him to answer for his sins. Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has welcomed the swift arrest of the suspect. Ends
