As the South Africans were busy celebrating Freedom Day, a 32-year-old male was arrested after he allegedly insulted and stabbed an elderly woman at her home in Thabong.
It is alleged that on Sunday, 27 April 2025, members attached to the Welkom Anti-Gang Unit responded to a complaint in Thubelisha, Thabong. On arrival, they found a 64-year-old elderly woman with a stab wound on her right arm.
Lejweleputswa Policespokesperson Sergent Palesa Tnabana said they got an information that the suspect went to the victim’s home, insulted the victim, forced himself into her home, and before he allegedly stabbed her. The victim managed to fight him off, and he fled the scene.
The suspect was traced to a nearby tavern and subsequently arrested. Members seized a knife from the suspect.
He is facing charges of Assault GBH, Malicious Damage to property, and crimen injuria.
