Additional suspect appears in court for the contravention of the Tax Administrations Act

GAUTENG – Dimakatso Johanna Matoa (60) has appeared before the Palm Ridge Commercial Crimes court on 19 March 2024 for contravention of the Tax Administration Act 28 of 2011 after she was arrested on a warrant of arrest on the same day.

It is alleged that the suspect submitted Value Added Tax (VAT) 101 forms through the SARS e-filing system with the assistance of a tax practitioner Hilaire Donatrim which led to a pay-out amounting to R692 982 by SARS, however when SARS requested supporting documents the suspects were unable to produce the requested documents.

The suspect was granted bail of R5000 and the matter is postponed to 15 April 2024 where she is expected to join three other suspects who are also out on bail.
