ActionSA’s Ekurhuleni mayoral candidate Xolani Khumalo and his co-accused, Gauteng Anti-Crime Unit chairperson Duma Radebe, are returning to the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court facing a charge of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH).
Khumalo and Duma face charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and pointing a firearm at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court.
The charges stem from a December 2025 anti-drug raid in the Mavimbela section of Katlehong. The operation was captured on camera as part of a high-profile crackdown.
A suspected drug dealer, Bongani Radebe, alleged that Khumalo and his team assaulted him and threatened him with a firearm during the raid.
Khumalo voluntarily handed himself over to the Katlehong police station on 19 January 2026 and was released on R2,000 bail.
Led by advocate Zola Majavu, the defense maintains that Khumalo was participating in a SAPS-sanctioned operation and did not enter the room where the alleged assault occurred. Both accused have pleaded not guilty.
After a delay on 23 April 2026 due to the state prosecutor being out sick, the trial was postponed to 14 May 2026.
