Accused to appear in court for fraud and money laundering

WESTERN CAPE – Micheal Adriaan Janse Van Rensberg (45) has been re-arrested by the Hawks based in George on 20 May 2024 for fraud and money laundering. He was appearing in court in Secunda, Mpumalanga on an unrelated matter during his arrest.

This stems from January 2021 when the accused allegedly defrauded complainants of an amount of R2 624 250. 00. It is reported he lured the victims to invest in his company but the money was misused. Financial investigation revealed that Janse Van Rensberg indeed utilized the money for his personal gain.

He was previously arrested on 14 February 2022 and appeared at the George Magistrate’s Court where he was released on a warning. A warrant of arrest was issued after he absconded. He will appear at the George Regional Court on 25 May 2024.
